O Media and Inside Asia Gaming (IAG) Vice Chairman and CEO Andrew Scott have been passing his 34th year in the gambling industry. He has passed 11 years in Macau and learned the nature of the business in the Asian continent.
Before the worldwide aggression of Covid-19, Andrew used to flow weekly for visiting Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, Cambodia, Taiwan and many other different Asian countries other than making long-distance trips to Australia and the U.K. for attending different prime industry events.
Other than a small “cavin fever” occurred from a year of being stuck on a small island, Andrew Scott and the IAG team have been toiling away, enjoying a swelling hit to their site and executing different major industry events even amid the critical condition induced by the new social distancing site.
Macau was Great in Dealing the Pandemic
In a conversation with Becky Liggero Fontana, Andrew was asked a few different questions about the current state in Macau. To delineate the actual positive condition in the country, Andrew said that due to the extraordinary ambience in Macau, they were able to arrange and run the Asian Gaming Power 50, which was its 13th session, in last year’s November. The event was fantastic, and to many, it was one of the best ever. The massive change was its being Macau-only event considering the travel difficulties.
Then the BLF asked another question to Andrew about Macau’s deployed strategy to cope with the ongoing Covid prohibition. In reply, Andrew said that it was a great challenge for both gaming and the non-gaming business community. However, some good measures had been made, and some good methods emerged. In Macau, just like the rest of the world, online platforms thrived. Businesses kept going virtual and websites started to get tremendous influx. Other than these, the country has formulated a unique method to reduce its labour cost without laying off their employees. Companies are giving employees more annual leave. Most leaves were non-paid.
Andrew Scott praised the innovative and smart approach of Macau’s government to deal with the ongoing Pandemic condition.
