On June 4th 2020, GGPoker Network announced that it has been granted a Type 3 B2B licence by the Malta Gaming Authority to offer gaming services.
This licence will facilitate the expansion of the company’s product reach and help it enter new markets. According to the online poker network supplier, the new licence further complements the company’s UKGC licence.
Earlier this year, GGPoker Network had sealed supply deals with a range of partners, including TotoGaming and OlyBet. The new MGA license will allow the company to penetrate deeper into the market and target further expansions.
GGPoker will also be leveraged to host World Series Of Poker’s WSOP Super Circuit Online Series, a poker tournament popular worldwide. Players and viewers will be able to see the physical event enter the digital channels this year – a welcome step in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
The company is enthused about its newly acquired MGA licence and believes it is a good sign and an honour. GGPoker network head Jean-Christophe Antoine says, “We look forward to signing new partnerships to continue making online poker available all around the world.”
GGPoker is one of the recent iGaming business to get the nod from the Malta Gaming Authority. Earlier in May this year, software developer Spinomenal and betting operator Esports Entertainment Group were among the businesses to get licensed by the MGA.
This is good news considering the steep decline in revenue MGA licensees are noticing due to the global Covid-19 outbreak. Especially the operators with a Type 2 (betting) license are expected to see a significant fall of 40% below what was initially predicted for 2020. On the other hand, the fall of revenue for B2B licence holders has been expected to be 20% below what was projected earlier.
GGPoker’s MGA licence gives new hopes to all those iGaming businesses who have postponed their investment plans for 2020 due to pandemic.
