Qualification needed for the CEO Post of MGA

The Board of Governors of the Regulator has reported that Dr Carl Brincat has been appointed to the Malta Gaming Authority’s CEO. And it was announced that this action would be effective immediately.

The Board of Governors chose Brincat for this post after a lengthy and competitive selection process. The Board of directors has previously called for applications from interested applicants. The submission process began on 17 December 2020.

Qualification required in MGA’s CEO Post

The Malta Gaming Authority has been looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and highly influential strategic thinker to join its team as CEO in December 2020. The ideal candidate should report to the Board of Directors and:

  • Defining the method and directing and handling such execution;
  • Providing leadership to initiate, direct, and manage all measures to fulfil the mandate, policy, vision, and values of the Authority;
  • Sustaining and reformulating the branding and positioning policy of MGA and further establishing and supporting the founding values of fairness and openness of the organization;
  • Ensure that the Board and the stakeholders interact respectfully and efficiently, including establishing and maintaining working relationships with existing and future key partners;
  • Lead the ‘One MGA’ team and improve it for optimum performance;
  • Be performance-oriented and track the financial performance of MGA.

 

The perfect applicant needs to have:

  • A university degree with experience in the field of the senior executive;
  • Efficient abilities for team management;
  • Executive participation, when giving business presentations and networking, to effectively reflect MGA in public;
  • Ability to master a wide variety of people- and private-sector stakeholder relations;
  • Exceptional competencies in teamwork, interpersonal and communication.

Experience would be considered advantageous in the gaming industry.

The selected CEO, Dr Brincat, is a lawyer by profession. Before being appointed as the MGA CEO, he has served as the chief legal and enforcement officer. After three years of criminal law training, he joined the MGA’s legal team, which he has participated in for more than six years. He has been a part of the Authority’s strategic direction team and has formed four governing committees in the past four years.
