Former CEO of Malta Gaming Authority Accused of Conspiracy

Yorgen Fenech run a Casino investigation, and Heathcliff Farrugia, the former CEO of MGA, tried to obscure the result of critical inquiry. Concerning the Daphne Caruana Galizia murder, Yorgen Fenech got arrested.

Ex- CEO of Malta Gaming Authority Alleged of Conspiracy

According to the Times of Malta report, to avoid the investigation result, the former CEO of MGA, Heathcliff Farrugia, conspired with Yorgen Fenech, the CEO of Tumas Gaming and murder suspect.

At several Tumas Gaming casinos, a joint inspection into money laundering controls conducted by the FIAU (Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit) and MGA in 2018.

A series of conspicuous disruptions of money laundering laws exposed by the investigation include funds and casino customers’ wealth source.

Monitoring of ongoing transactions at the casinos was sorely lacking, also discovered by the investigation.

Following the FIA’s breach notice, Fenech and Farrugia were in direct private communication, claimed the Times of Malta’s report. Last October, Farrugia stepped down as the CEO of MGA; Fenech allegedly assured that there was mothering personal in the investigation, and he was biding for the time.

Instead of fine unrestricted, Farrugia was endeavoring to get a warning, alleged by the report.

OK above €10,000 only released to the public, but since then, the threshold increased.

Malta is at the FATF risk (Financial Action Task Force) of landing; this is also called the grey list, which is a list of untrustworthy countries.

In connection with the murder of Caruana Galizia, Fenech Arrested

In Malta, the anti-money laundering regulations were too stringent, Farrugia told Fenech during their conversations.

The scandal could end up with the Daphne group, Farrugia’s concern.

About the Daphne Project, Farrugia remarks that major news organizations and journalists involves in the investigative global journalism project. On October 16, 2017, Daphne Caruana Galizia got murdered, and on his work, the projects aim to carry on.

From a comment of Fenech, the remark came in response that questioned the gambling patterns, and Galizia’s murder is one of the suspects involved in it. In connection with the murder, Fenech himself arrested after the conversation.
