National Brands Want State to Change Its Rules

Three companies that offer mobile sports betting are seeking a change of rules in Arkansas as the state has not permitted any kind of mobile sports betting service or activities in its regional boundary yet. Bill Vickery, a member of the lobbying firm named Little Rock, sent a request to the Arkansas Racing Commission pleading it to change the rule regarding sports betting. Vickery is representing DraftKings, MGM Resorts, and FanDuel, according to the email he sent to the commission.

John C. Campbell, the man, also known as “Smokey” is the direction of the commission, replied that plead, saying that only the licensed casinos are allowed to serve sports wagering. However, all three applicants offer sports betting at sportsbooks inside a casino ambiance.

West Memphis’ Southland, Hot Springs’ Oaklawn, Pine Bluff’s Saracen are the only three licensed casinos in Arkansas. Though a talk regarding a fourth casino to gain the license to offer casino service in Russellville is in the air for a long while. But the casino seems to get tied up in a legislative dispute, and there is no certainty how long it may take that to be dissolved.

In his response, the director also noted that all the clients of Vickery were the first-ever entities to propose such a regulation change in terms of mobile gaming in Arkansas. He wrote in his response that the staff of the Arkansas Racing Commission seems to be willing to discuss the terms and issues on the topic so that both sides can understand each other’s standing ground.

Sportsbooks Counts Nothings Less than Millions

Under the existing rules, Arkansas casinos could have developed mobile sports betting apps. But according to the state, bettors must have to be present on the associated casino property to place a bet via the app.

It’s evident that the rules regarding Arkansas mobile sports betting were in need of a change. However, casinos in that state never sought such a change. If the change really happens, that will allow the private sports betting entities to come into an agreement with the state for providing sports betting services.
