The CEO Post of Malta Gaming Authority

The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has chosen Dr Carl Brincat as its new Chief of Executives. Dr Carl Brincat was the chief enforcement and legal officer of the gaming authority and now has become its CEO with utmost and immediate effect. He has filled the post left blank by the former CEO Heathcliff Farrugia who has renounced the post last year.

The Malta Gaming Authority said that Brincat was chosen after the serious competitive selection procedure. Every candidate for the post was equally talented and keen, and choosing one among them would be tough for the authority. However, Brincat made himself distinct among all the candidates with his versatility and idea generation capability. Prior to the competition, the authority launched a mass call for application on December 17.

New Promise to Keep

The newly elected CEO gave a statement on his promotion and said that it was an honour for him to be selected to pioneer the organization at such a prime juncture for the industry and the MGA alike. Brincat said that he was proud of the work that the authority had done so far in augmenting regulatory standard. He also vowed his commitment to ensuring a long path to walk together.

In his statement, he mentioned some of the factors that he found critical. He said that it was essential for the authority and the industry to cultivate a robust partnership with other stakeholders and regulators, and the industry itself, to attain a regulatory ambience that accomplishes the MGA’s goals as it set out in the law in the most transparent, effective and proportionate manner.

Brincat opted in the MGA in 2014 as its legal advisor and held a numerous legal role. Then he became the chief legal and enforcement executive in 2019. Before joining the MGA, Brincat worked at a law firm named Emmanuel Malia and Associates.

Brincat is also a member of the Financial Intelligence Analyst Unit board, as well as he is associated with the International Association of Gambling Regulators (IAGR). He has quite a long list of working experience which helped him gather his incomparable knowledge level.

Former CEO announced to leave the post of the in October 2020. He was promoted to the post in April 2018.
